How To Help Anxiety

The Truth About How To Help Anxiety. My Recovery Experience.

To a certain level, anxiety is normal, and we have all felt anxious before entering stressful circumstances like before taking an exam or doing something new, or when entering an environment where there is danger. Anxiety in these situations stimulates the body's "fight or flight" response, so that we can face stressful situations with our body's in a heightened state of awareness, and perform better.

Anxiety becomes a bigger problem when it interferes with our normal functioning. For example, if it stops us from doing our everyday activities, or if anxious thoughts dominate our thinking.

Obsessive worrying about "what might happen if" or analysing worst-case scenarios are paralyzing and unproductive. Such thoughts can keep you awake at night and leave you feeling anxious and tense the next day. Prolonged anxiety can cause the body to become physically symptomatic and can cause even further anxiety about the way we feel.

The beliefs we have about worrying can fuel the process too, because we can perceive mixed benefits from being anxious. For example, we might believe that being anxious is bad for us and likely to make us ill, thus making us want to stop being anxious. If we are unable to stop ourselves then this might lead to even worse anxiety as we worry about the fact that we are worried. On the other hand, we might believe that our anxiety will help us to avoid bad things things, or lead to solutions to ongoing problems. If you have physical symptoms from anxiety, you might believe that the worrying will help you find a solution to your health concerns.

But how to help your anxiety? Fortunately there is a way to end your anxiety nightmare that is natural and lasting.
